Cricket has always been an outdoor enthusiast primarily focused on long distance backpacking. The ability to simply get from point A to Point B under her own power has always fascinated her and has directly lead to her current addiction with long distance mountain bike events. After becoming a Mom in 2001, She hung up the hiking boots from her thru-hiking days and began thinking she had purged all her desire for long distances. But that was the furthest thing from reality. It took her a few years to find mountain biking but once she did she never looked back. A year after recreational riding with the a Local Women's Mountain Bike Club, she started racing in 2006 with a 12 hour solo mountain bike race. It completely satisfied that thru-hiking feeling that she was still yearning for in only 1 day not 6 months. Endurance mountain biking became her outlet and that first race was the beginning of her search for more challenging and unique events throughout the world. Warning - it is a never-ending search!!

Her philosophy is that planning, preparation and training will set you up for success. Being a mother of 2 young energetic boys, helped her understand the constant struggles with trying to find balance on and off the bike. One of the most important lessons she learned over the years racing is that everyone has this one thing in common - from podium contenders going for records to mid pack racers trying to achieve their personal bests to survivors just trying to finish an event - we all have the ability within us to surprise ourselves.
